Developing a Standard for Condition Based Monitoring (CBM)
The project, conducted as part of Industrial Training at Synovia Pharma PLC, aimed to develop standardized parameters for Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM) of utility equipment to enhance preventive maintenance and reduce the risk of machine breakdowns. The plant, comprising chillers, pumps, boilers, and power generators, previously lacked defined standards for critical CBM metrics such as vibration, noise levels, and bearing temperature. Over a one-week period, comprehensive data collection was conducted through daily inspections of key components, including pump motors, compressors, and blower sections of AHUs. Special attention was given to noise levels in the gas generator area and temperature checks for centrifugal pumps and dual-fuel fire-tube boilers. The project culminated in aligning the gathered data with manufacturer and international standards, thereby establishing robust benchmarks that support early anomaly detection and promote consistent, reliable maintenance practices.Â
